Year 6 Spinebreakers visit Waterstones!

Yesterday morning, our Year 6 Spinebreakers had a lovely trip to Waterstones in Romford. Their mission was to purchase a selection of new books for the school Library!

The children spent lots of time perusing the shelves to find books from favourite authors and series that they knew would be welcome additions to our library. They made some great selections!

Once they had chosen and purchased their books, the Spinebreakers enjoyed some tasty sweet treats and hot chocolates while completing some fun wordsearches.

On our return to school, the Year 6 Spinebreakers headed to the library, where their final job to end a fun morning was to mark off a successfully completed task from their Spinebreaker trackers - *Purchased new books for the library.

The lovely range of new books purchased will soon be going on display in the library for everyone to borrow and enjoy!

The Story Scrapbook is back for another year!

We are delighted to announce that the Story Scrapbook is back for another year!

Each week, a different class around the school is delivered the scrapbook by two of our Spinebreakers. The class's task is to fill a double-page spread with work based on a book of their choice - this could be their end-of-day story or a class favourite. Classes can fill their pages with drawings, paintings, writing, collages - they just need to be creative and use their imaginations!

Last week, the Story Scrapbook had its first delivery to Willow class in Year 4. The class chose How To Train Your Dragon by Cressida Cowell as their theme and produced some very creative pages!

Jason and Eridola, Willow class's Spinebreakers, then returned the Story Scrapbook to the library for some photos before delivering it to Lime class in Year 5 for their turn.

We look forward to seeing what Lime class will choose to do!

 Lunchtime library club

Last week, the lunchtime Library Club children had fun completing some Marvellous Me sheets.

Book of the Week

The Book of the Week last week was The Boy Who Made the World Disappear by Ben Miller. Harrison tries his best to be good. He doesn’t steal, he always shares with his sister and he never cheats at board games, but Harrison also has a BIG flaw... He can't control his temper! So when he’s given a black hole instead of a balloon at a party, Harrison jumps at the chance to get rid of everything that makes him cross. But when it’s not just things he hates that are disappearing into the black hole but things he loves, too, Harrison starts to realise that sometimes you should be careful what you wish for...

Chatterbooks sessions

Last week, new library Chatterbooks groups started to enjoy The Rainbow Fish. Everyone showed their super attention and listening skills by getting 10/10 with the questions at the end of the story!
