Book Club At The Theater!
The year 3 book club visited London on Wednesday to watch the musical of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory! Over the past few weeks they have been meeting weekly to share the story, discuss the characters, settings and plot, design new rooms for Willy Wonka's factory and come up with ideas for their own delicious chocolaty treat!
With plenty of time to spare when we arrived in London the group explored Trafalgar Square, Convent Garden and Leicester Square, where they had the chance to look inside M&M World and the Nickelodeon store...

Broadford's Book Bench
Check out the photos and videos from the artist's, Jenny Leonard, visit before the half term. Spinebreakers and Book Club members joined Jenny in pairs to help paint the bench - I'm sure you'll agree they did a fantastic job!
The bench is in the perfect place for a bit of quiet reading! The bench features all of Broadford's favourite characters from authors who we have had the pleasure of meeting over the last three years, as well as characters and logos from popular reading challenges the children have taken part in and places they have visited.

Super Readers - Kingsley Reads 'The Hundred Mile-An-Hour-Dog Goes For Gold'
A group of pupils from year 5 have been working hard over the past term to create a magazine based on the author, Jeremy Strong. One of the features in the magazine includes a link to the first chapter of, The Hundred-Mile-An-Hour-Dog Goes For Gold. Here is the video of Kinsley reading that chapter. To find out what happens next you can borrow the book from the library. Well done Kingsley!

Jeremy Strong Book Club
Last term a group of year 5 pupils were selected to take part in a Jeremy Strong Book Club. Each member of the group was given a role and as a team they will create a newspaper/magazine. Before Jeremy's visit, the group got together and came up with a list of questions they wanted to ask him. You can listen to ‘Jeremy Strong Book Club’ on Audioboo to hear what they found out.
