105 Books To Read Before You Leave Broadford

At Broadford, we aim to encourage a love of reading. By providing our pupils with quality texts and introducing them to strong characters and identifiable themes, we can broaden their perspectives of the world around them.

This is why we have our 105 Books to Read Before You Leave Broadford. This exciting reading tracker encourages pupils to explore a wide range of literature alongside their regular reading books.

There are 15 books per year group. Each year, pupils can earn their Bronze, Silver and Gold reading certificates along their reading journey.

By the time children leave us in Year 6, they would have made their way through a great list of books, from children’s classics to contemporary new reads.

Books can be read independently or together at home. Many are available in our school library, at your local library, or as audio/ebooks online.

*NEW* Something a little different for KS2 this year:

Your Reading, Your Way: Read all 15 or 10 from us and 5 from you!

From this year, children in KS2 (yrs 3/4/5/6) can either read all 15 books from the list, or can choose 10 books from the list and 5 books of their own choosing.

Tracking your child’s progress

A tracker poster will be sent home with your child. You can use the tracker to keep your own record at home of what your child has read.

To let us know which books your child has completed, simply write “105 Books” and the title of the book in their white Reading Record or email us at: library@broadford-havering.sch.uk School staff will then log their progress and award certificates for reading 5, 10 and 15 books. Happy reading!
