World Book Day Winners

Congratulations to Lewis, Tyler, Gracee-May, Charlie, Emily, Lilly, Jack, Abby, Harry, Coral, Danny, Chloe, Sophie and Amy who are this years World Book Day winners. Everyone looked amazing in their character outfits! Here they all are with today's special guest, author Anne Fine. They will receive their prizes in tomorrow's assembly.

Aquila Magazine - March 2015

The latest issue of Aquila is now available to read in the library. The theme of this months magazine is 'Science of Humour'. There are competitions to enter, so see Miss Sparkes to find out how to take part.

World Book Day - Design A Book Token Competition

National Book Tokens are holding a competition this year to celebrate World Book Day. Using the template available from the library, you need to design your own National Book Token. A panel of judges will select a winner and runner-up in each of three age categories: up to 8 years, 9–12 years, 13–16 years. Plus, one overall winner could see their design turned into a real National Book Token and distributed to bookshops nationwide in time for Christmas!
 
Prizes:
The first prize for each category is; £250 National Book Tokens for the school, £100 National Book Tokens for the child and £100 National Book Tokens for the teacher.
Three runners-up will receive £150 National Book Tokens for the school, £50 book tokens for the child and £50 National Book Tokens for the teacher.

To take part pick up a competition sheet from the library. The closing date for enteries is Friday 17th April 2015, with the winners being announced in the Summer term.
 

Anne Fine Books Available To Buy Now!

Anne Fine will be visiting Broadford this Thursday and will be signing books outside the year 1 classrooms from 3.15pm. Her books are now on sale in the library, so if you would like to buy and reserve a copy then please come along tomorrow and see Miss Sparkes. There are just ten copies of each of the following books...

World Book Day Is Coming...

World Book Day is fast approaching!
  

We have two author visits this week! Today we welcome children's author Chris Wormell. He will be joining us this afternoon and working with Early Years and Key Stage One. He will be in the year 1 outside area after school to sign copies of his books. Then, on Thursday we will be joined by Anne Fine, again she will be signing books after school. Our Spinebreakers will meet up with her during her visit to ask her a few questions.
 
For one week only, we will be holding a special raffle for all year groups. To earn a ticket you need to complete one or more of the following, don't forget the more you do the more times your name will be entered into the raffle box and the more chance you will have of winning!
 
How to earn a ticket;
- read and return your book
- complete a current reading challenge (WW1 or Broadford Big Read)
- take part in a reading competition (Where's Wally or Design a Book Token)
- find out an interesting fact about a popular author, illustrator or story
- write or record a book review (use audioboo or Junior Librarian)

Up for grabs;
We will be giving away four goody bags filled with books, signed posters, bookmarks and puzzles! The prizes will go to one KS1 boy, one KS1 girl, one KS2 boy and one KS2 girl. Children will be selected at random, good luck!
 

Book Sale After School

Author Chris Wormell will be visiting Broadford this afternoon to work with children in Nursery, Reception and years 1 and 2. After school he will be based outside the year 1 classrooms selling and signing copies of his books. Please come over and take a look.
