Library displays
October is Black History Month and to celebrate it, we have a lovely display of books and challenges for the children to take part in.

Thursday 3rd October was National Poetry Day - we have a lovely selection of poetry books and rhymes for all ages in the library.

New in the Library
Last week, all of the wonderful new books we were able to get from the Book Fair were put on display in the library for children to borrow. They proved very popular straight away, with lots of happy children coming to choose their favourites!

Visitors to the library
Last week, our new Chatterbooks library sessions continued with the same group of children from the previous week. They had the opportunity to complete some fun activities linked to the stories we read - The Scarecrows' Wedding for KS1 and Man on the Moon for KS2. This week, we will be selecting some new children to enjoy their two Chatterbooks library sessions. I wonder who will be picked next?!

Well done to Lukas, Ryan, Vanessa, Emir, Vrisha and Emma who have read five books, earning their Bronze Certificates.

Well done to Vanessa, Vrisha and Emma who have read 10 books, earning their Silver Certificates.

Well done to Emma who has read all 15 books, earning her Gold Certificates and completing her tracker.

Well done to all!

You can find the books from the 105 Books list for your child's year group here

Blue Peter Reading Badge
More book badge application forms have been posted! Well done to Aayush for completing the task at home. Fingers crossed your badge arrives soon!

Earn your Blue Peter Reading Badge! See how you can take part here or pick up an entry form from the library.

Urgent request - Returning borrowed library books
We have had lots of lovely new books added to the library collection over the past couple of months but, unfortunately, many of them have been borrowed by children and never returned to the library. Please can you check at home to see if you have any Broadford library books (stamped inside/Broadford logo attached). If you do, please pass them to your child to return to the library asap, where our Book Monster is waiting to eat them! Thank you.

Black History Month Reading Challenge!

October is Black History Month, and what better way to celebrate it than by reading books about the people in history who have helped shape our world! Using the money raised from our recent Book Fair, we have purchased some new titles with black leading roles.

To run alongside the books we have to offer, we have put together a reading challenge which can be collected from the school library. Simply read three books and list one interesting fact or point for each. Give your chosen titles a star rating then drop them in at the library for your chance of winning a copy of Alison Hammond's, Black in Time.

Please return you completed challenge sheet by Tuesday 1st November 2022. All participating pupils will receive a certificate and be entered into our raffle to win a copy of Alison Hammond's, Black in Time. Winners will be announced in the weekly reading assembly.
