It's the month of KNOWvember!

*Read something true and learn something new!*

It is the month of KNOWvember in the library - a special time to highlight the vast array of wonderful non-fiction books that are available for children to borrow.

There are books on most things, from animals to Ancient Egypt, forces to football, transport to tropical rainforests, and so much more!

~Our non-fiction section~

There are lots of topical books and encyclopedias all around the library, and our display board at the moment is full of many crazy and amazing facts!

 There is also a KNOWvember reading challenge that children can take part in!

As part of KNOWvember, some of the library's super Spinebreakers have also recently been delivering packs of non-fiction books to classes - these are on the topics that the classes are currently studying and will be displayed in their reading corners for children to enjoy.

~~~~~
Please email Miss Flower, Librarian, if you are looking for a particular book or subject, with your child's full name and class.
School Summer Reading Challenge
Our challenges are always bursting with ideas and fun ways of keeping you reading during your break away from school.
Make sure you hand your completed challenge into the school library when you return to school by Friday 5th September 2025 for a special certificate!
Get Caught Reading!
Like previous years, we would love to see you reading during the summer break, whether it be at home or far away. Take part by sending one photo (with your full name and new class) of yourself caught reading somewhere exciting over the summer to:
Instagram: @broadfordlibrary  Email: library@broadford-havering.sch.uk
You can view your photo on our Library Instagram Page, so please head over there to give us a follow.
We will choose one winner and one runner-up from each Key Stage. These lucky ones will be rewarded with a prize. All entries need to be in by Wednesday 3rd September. Winners will be announced the following week.
Why have a reading competition?
At Broadford Primary School, we believe in developing a culture where children are intrinsically motivated to read for pleasure. We believe in encouraging them to read both inside and beyond school and that the most effective way to promote reading is to work in partnership with parents and families.
