Read For My School Starts Today!

The online reading challenge, Read For My School, begins today and will run until March 28th. This year, as a school, we have been given a target to read 500 books. All pupils that read at least 8 books will automatically be entered into a prize draw, and our school will be entered into a separate prize draw to win 100 books, provided we read at least 250 books between us. This year the challenge is open to all pupils from years 3 to 6; online you will find a library of over 100 books and a list of recommended reading material.

Unlike last year, Pearson will donate at 100,000 books to Book Aid International’s life-changing programme, School Library in a Box, distributing new books to schools in Tanzania. A new feature on your personal account allows you to write a letter to the children in Tanzania who will receive the books. Over the course of the competition you can edit the letter as often as you like, once the competition ends one letter will be selected and the pupil who wrote it will be nominated for regional and national awards.

THE IMPORTANT BIT...
To sign up, click on the link at the bottom of the web page that says, SIGN UP AS A PUPIL. You will then need to fill in the online form, creating a username and password. Try to keep them both simple, like using your full name as the username and Broadford as your password. At the bottom of the page you will need to type in the READING GROUP CODE, this is the same for everyone - 845562. Once you have entered all your information, click on CREATE NEW ACCOUNT, and you're ready to start reading.

As an extra treat, for the first two weeks I will be doubling the points for the Premier Reading League, for each book you read online I will reward you with 2 points and for each review you will receive 6 points for your team! Your name will also go into a library raffle box for every book you read, then once the competition ends two names will be chosen, those two children will win a book each of their choice. Good luck!
