World Book Day - Dressing Up Clothes!

 World Book Day

If you have any fancy dress items or outfits at home that you no longer want, we would really appreciate your donations!

With World Book Day fast approaching, we are looking to help our planet (and save a little money) by reusing and recycling unwanted fancy dress items.

Please drop off any donations to the school office during drop off/pick up hours. There will be a box for all donations.

We kindly ask that all donations are made by Friday 14th February 2025.

We hope this will be a success and something we can continue to implement for future World Books Days!

The Story Scrapbook continues to travel around the school!

The Story Scrapbook continues to travel around the school!

Every week, a different class around the school is delivered the scrapbook by two of our Spinebreakers. The class's task is to fill a double-page spread with work based on a book of their choice - this could be their end-of-day story or a class favourite. Classes can fill their pages with drawings, paintings, writing, collages - they just need to be creative and use their imaginations!

Last week, the Story Scrapbook was delivered to Mulberry class in Year 2. The class chose the Oliver Jeffers classic, Lost and Found, and produced two very creative pages full of drawings and what they liked about the story.

The Story Scrapbook was then returned to the library for some photos with Mulberry class's two Spinebreakers, Jessica and Charlie. They then delivered it to Aspen class in Reception for their turn.

We look forward to seeing what Aspen class will choose to do!

Lunchtime library club
Last Monday, we celebrated the Year of the Snake for Chinese New Year. The children were given a snake to colour, and were then excited to cut it out and watch it spiral round. Everyone was keen to add their first sticker onto their Library Cards. Once the children have collected 5 stickers, they will be able to pick a prize.

Chatterbooks sessions
Last week, the KS1 Chatterbooks groups enjoyed listening to The True Story of The 3 Little Pigs! We all discussed the story and whether we believe the wolf's version to be true.

New KS2 Chatterbooks groups have been enjoying the Chatterbox Bear, a funny story about friendship and communication. All of the groups completed shared reads of the book, before working together to answer questions about what they had read. 10/10 all round! Well done everyone.

New in the Library
We have been very fortunate to receive a wonderful donation of Dirty Bertie books. These books follow the comic capers of Dirty Bertie – the world’s grubbiest trouble magnet!
Dirty Bertie is a hugely popular series featuring the character created by David Roberts and written by Alan MacDonald. With each hilarious story split into bitesize chapters, Dirty Bertie is ideal for building reading confidence, with a recommended reading age of 5-8 years - perfect for our younger library visitors.

Library Displays
Last Wednesday, we celebrated Chinese New Year. This year is the Year of the Snake, which represents wisdom, knowledge, intelligence, intuition and creativity. The children who visited the library enjoyed looking up the year that they were born and what animal it was!
