Thank You For Visiting Our Book Fair!

We are so grateful for the purchases you made at our Book Fair. Together, you helped raise:

£278.31!

This money has been used to add new and exciting books to our school library. As you can see below, Year 1 pupils were very pleased to hear some of the stories you helped buy.

New Spinebreaker Duty!

The Spinebreakers have taken on the task of recommending their favourite books to the Broadford staff.

Each week Spinebreakers will be invited to the Library where they will each choose two of their most loved stories. They will attach a note to each book explaining why they chose that particular text, before heading off to our two staffrooms to deliver the books. The staff are then welcome to take the books back to their classes and share them with their pupils.

So far, Hayden, Lola, Kezia, Maalik, Vanessa, Jaxon, Megan and Simon have taken on the task. They have picked out a variety of books, from heroic worms to odd socks.

Reading Assemblies - Blue Peter Reading Badge Entries...

Miss Hamilton picked out some interesting facts from Moira Butterfield's book, Welcome to Our World. This magnificent book celebrates children from around the world - their cultures and languages. This book can be found on the Reception Reading Tracker and links their topics in class.

Mr Cardwell read the opening chapters to a classic - Heidi. Written over a century ago, Heidi is set in the Swiss Alps and follows the story of a young orphan who is sent to the Swiss mountains to live with her grandfather. This book can be found on the Year 5 Reading Tracker.

Jaxon has been reading 'The Atlas of Monsters', he was keen to write about his favourite characters. Shivanshi wrote about her love for the Harry Potter series and how the first book made her want to read more and more. Alex shared his thoughts on David Walliams's book, Gangsta Granny. Billionaire Boy was the book Eason chose to write about and Pragya told the story of Moody Margret.

Reading Assembly - Non-Fiction Books Added To The Trackers!

Miss Myers lead the KS1 assembly this week. From the Reception Tracker, Miss Myers read Julia Donaldson's every so popular, Room on the Broom! This kind and caring witch makes plenty of room on her broom for the animals she passes.

You may have noticed that we have made a few changes to our reading trackers this year. We have added a copy of non-fiction texts to each one - non-fiction texts that link to the topics covered in classes. Miss Greenwood shared facts from 'Project Ancient Egypt'. Copies of this book can be found in our school library.

Reading Achievements

Well done to Nyasa, who completed Broadford's Summer Reading Tracker. If you have a completed tracker at home, return it to the school library where you'll receive a certificate of achievement.

Maggie is off to a flying start! She has read five books from her '105 Books' tracker, earning herself a Bronze Certificate!
