We delved deep into the boxes to find, not one, but more than 40 packages wrapped in festive paper!
Tia ripped open one of the presents to find our first story for the month of December - Winnie and Wilbur Meet Santa! The children remembered reading about Winnie before and were excited to see what adventures she got up to this time.
Our second story was opened by Ellie-Mae. This time we read The Best Christmas Present Ever!
Daniel and Aimen were the lucky ones from Rowan Class to choose - they unwrapped Merry Christmas, Hugless Douglas and The Stinky Sprouts in a Rather Smelly Christmas Tale!
We can't wait to see what books we'll unwrap next week!
Pupils in Key Stage One had the pleasure of Abie Longstaff visiting them last week! Abie shared her love of reading, explaining to the children how she comes up with the ideas for her stories and what inspires her to write.
Abie spent some time with our younger Spinebreakers in the library. They asked her questions about her work...
Last week, our Year 5 Spinebreakers took their annual trip to Waterstones in Romford. They spent some time browsing the thousands of books Waterstones has to offer.
They chose two new books for our school library and enjoyed hot chocolates and festive cakes in Costa.
Alex picked up a copy of Jeff Kinney's latest release in the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series - The Meltdown. Being a Harry Potter fan, he was eager to get his hands on J.K. Rowling's Chamber of Secrets.
The Person Controller by David Baddiel and Dav Pilkey's Dog Man were the two books Joshua was drawn to.
Esther was blown away by the amount of books to choose from, but in the end she picked out Nevermoor, The Trials of Morrigan Crow and Olivia and the Snowflake.
Maisie is in the Christmas spirit! She chose a copy of The Grinch, The Story of the Movie, and Jacqueline Wilson's The Lottie Project.
The new books are now available to borrow, please see Mrs McFarlane in the library.

Author of the Fairytale Hairdresser series, Abie Longstaff, will be visiting Broadford next Thursday (22nd November). Abie will be working with the pupils in years 1 and 2 - sharing her passion for writing and helping them to develop story telling skills.
Please be aware, there will be the opportunity for pupils to purchase copies of Abie's book, which can be signed by Abie on the day. If you would like to buy a book, please send in your money in a named envelope. Books will be available to purchase on the day of her visit during school time.
Congratulations to Nicholas, Danny, Noah and Hussam!
Their names were picked from our Returning Books Raffle. They were invited along to the library to tell Mrs McFarlane the type of book which they would like to receive as a prize.
HOW DOES THE RAFFLE WORK?
A ticket is popped into our raffle box for each book that you return to the library. The more times you remember your book, the more chance you'll have of winning!
The next lot of lucky winners will be chosen at random on Monday 10th December - Good Luck!

On returning to school, the Spinebreakers got to work - sharing their stories and writing book reviews. They chose to review Richard Byrne's book, The Case of the Red-Bottomed Robber. This book is quite a new release. It tells the story of a group of crayon classmates who keep having their drawings rubbed out. With the help of Sergeant Blue, their discover who the culprit is.
Both Srinika's and Amelia's reviews have been displayed on our 'We Are Reading' wall. The display changes fortnightly to show the books the Spinebreakers have borrowed - so keep an eye out next time you visit!
