National Summer Reading Challenge Reminder!

This year's Summer Challenge theme is Ready, Set, Read! 

There is still time to sign up and complete the challenge! Head down to your local library or sign up online by visiting their website.

Last year, 61 pupils from Broadford completed the Summer challenge, that's an average of 3 children per class. This year we aim to increase that number. If you complete the challenge let us know via our Facebook or Instagram accounts. Children who complete the challenge will be entered into a draw and will have the chance of winning some storybook goodies!

Over the years we have received hundreds of entries; from reading to animals to reading in aircrafts, we have been so lucky to see you continuing your love of reading during the summer breaks.

We can't wait to see where you'll be reading this summer! 

Summer Reading Challenges 2023!

Hopefully you have had the chance to sign up to the National Reading Challenge at your local libraries. This year's theme is sports and games.

By now you should have received a school summer challenge/tracker which includes information about this year's Get Caught Reading Challenge. Take a look at the trackers below:

Our trackers are bursting with ideas and ways of keeping you reading during our break away from school. There are extra tasks like, redesigning a front cover for your favourite book, creating a quiz based on a story you have read, and researching an author - just to name a few! The challenge sheet also features a bucket list - how many will you tick off?

Make sure you hand your completed trackers in when you return to school in September for a special certificate!

Facebook Questions

We will share a reading-themed question with you every Friday during the holidays over on our Facebook page. Simply leave your answers in the comments section and one person (with the correct answer) will be chosen at random to win a goodie bag of book treats! The lucky winners will be announced on Mondays. Prizes will be sent home during the first week back in September.

We think that's enough to keep you busy this summer! Make sure you enjoy the outdoors and make lots of memories with your families and friends! 

Reading Assemblies - The National Summer Reading Challenge Has Begun!

Today, we were visited by Essie and Paul from Havering Libraries. During our weekly reading assemblies, they introduced the National Summer Reading Challenge that has just begun. This year's Summer Challenge theme is Ready, Set, Read!

Reading Achievements

Well done to Yehor, Bella and Poppy-Rae, who have all achieved their Bronze Certificates.

Congratulations to Gabia, Gabrielle and Gurrehmat, who have earned their Silver Certificates

Fantastic effort by Fatimah, Harley, Damian, Emma, Tesha, Darcie, Gabrielle, Abdul-Hafiiz, Munsha, Sophia, Eason, Gurrehmat, Charlie and Sophie, who have all managed to complete their trackers by reading all 15 books! These children have been awarded their Gold Certificates.
