World Book Day is coming!

We will be celebrating World Book Day on THURSDAY 6TH MARCH 2025!

The theme for this year is 'Read Your Way!' At Broadford Primary School, we love reading and thoroughly look forward to World Book Day every year. We have been busy making preparations for a day of book-themed fun! Here are just a few things we are looking forward to:

Character Costume Or Snuggly Pyjamas

To coincide with this year's 'Read Your Way' theme, we are inviting children to come into school on World Book Day in either their Favourite Character Costume or their Snuggly Pyjamas.

Please remember, as this time of year is particularly cold and wet, it is really important that the children are dressed appropriately and have suitable footwear (such as long sleeves, trousers and outdoor shoes) to be able to enjoy any outdoor activities on the day.

We know that shop-bought costumes can be a little expensive, so why not try making something to wear instead... a character mask maybe?

Here's a few ideas!

£1 Book Tokens
You should have received your £1 Book Token by now - don't forget to head to your nearest bookshop or participating retailer (like Waterstones or WHSmith) to exchange it for one of the free World Book Day books. The voucher can also be used to redeem £1 off of a book you have had your eye on!

Design a Bookmark

To celebrate World Book Day, we have put together a competition in each class during the day. Each child will be designing their very own bookmark. All children will then get two votes for their favourite bookmark designed in class and the chosen winner from each class will receive a prize.

Copies of the winning bookmarks will be found in the Library afterwards for the whole school to access.

105 Book Hunt
This year, we have put together an exciting book hunt for each class to participate in. Classes will have the opportunity during the day to head outside to search for front covers from our 105 Books to Read Before you leave Broadford.

Please remember, it is really important that the children are dressed appropriately and have suitable footwear as they will be outside.

If you are not familiar with our '105 Books To Read Before You Leave Broadford' please see them all here.

Costume donations

We would like to say a massive thank you for all of the lovely costume donations for World Book Day. If you do still have anything that you would like to donate, please bring it into the school office.

Book donations

We are always grateful and lucky to receive lots of book donations from generous parents, carers and children. If you have any books in good condition that are no longer wanted, please either hand them into the school office or give them to your child to bring into the library. Thank you.
