World Book Day

We will be celebrating World Book Day on THURSDAY 6TH MARCH 2025!

To coincide with this year's 'Read Your Way' theme, we are inviting children to come into school on World Book Day in either their Favourite Character Costume or their Snuggly Pyjamas.

Please remember, as this time of year is particularly cold, it is really important that the children are dressed appropriately and have suitable footwear (such as long sleeves, trousers and outdoor shoes) to be able to enjoy any outdoor activities on the day.

Lunchtime library club
Last Monday, the children had great fun with some giant colouring and activity sheets.

Chatterbooks sessions
Last week, the KS1 Chatterbooks groups enjoyed listening to Goldilocks and the Three Bears! The children enjoyed acting out the story using our Puppet Theatre. Year 2 enjoyed colouring their own bookmarks.

New KS2 Chatterbooks groups started to enjoy Chicken Clicking, an engaging book all about helping children to stay safe online - which coincided perfectly with last week's Internet Safety Week. Everyone enjoyed shared reading of the story and trying to get 10/10 with the questions about it at the end!

Spinebreakers
Last week, our Year 4 Spinebreakers had a very productive trip to Waterstones in Romford where they purchased lots of wonderful new books for the library.

Library Displays
February is Michael Morpurgo month. Michael is one of Britain's best loved authors for children. We have great selection of his books available for children to borrow from the library.

105 Books reading achievements
Well done to Poppy, Eason and Alfie who have received their Bronze Certificates for reading five books.

Well done to Noura, Teodor, Eddie, Poppy and Ronnie who have received their Silver Certificates for reading 10 books.

Well done to David and Teodor who have earned their Gold Certificates for reading all 15 books!

Well done to all!

You can find the books from the 105 Books list for your child's year group here

Urgent request - Returning borrowed library books
We have had lots of lovely new books added to the library collection over the past couple of months but, unfortunately, many of them have been borrowed by children and never returned to the library. Please can you check at home to see if you have any Broadford library books (stamped inside/Broadford logo attached). If you do, please pass them to your child to return to the library asap, where our Book Monster is waiting to eat them! Thank you.
