Like previous assemblies, our main focus this week was to promote books which feature on our '105 Books to Read Before you Leave Broadford' book list.
Mrs Stanley kicked off Monday's reading assembly with a classic - The Very Hungry Caterpillar! Did you know this story was first published 53 years ago?! This book can be found on the Reception Reading Tracker.
Key Stage 2 held individual assemblies in their classrooms. They were introduced to 'The Indian in the Cupboard', this can be found on the Year 6 Reading Tracker. The young boy in this tale receives a cupboard for his birthday. He is surprised to discover that the cupboard holds magical powers and can make his toys come to life!
We have purchased extra copies of each title, all of which can be borrowed from the library now.
Year 2 Chatterbooks
Bella, Callissya, Adam, Lucia, Nashwan and Amaira have been visiting the library this term to study Julia Donaldson's story 'The Highway Rat'. During each visit they have completed comprehension tasks based on the text, receiving a sticker on their trackers for each task completed. Having now filled their trackers, they have earned themselves certificates!
During one library session, the group compared The Highway Rat to the bad character who feature in Julia Donaldson's latest story, The Baddies. The group agreed that no character was quite as bad as the Highway Rat!
