Year 6 Spinebreakers Visit Waterstones!

Yesterday afternoon, the Year 6 Spinebreakers ventured out on a visit to Waterstones in Romford. Armed with a book wish list, the children scanned the shelves in search of some new titles for the school library. They each chose two new books.

Srinika chose M. T. Khan's story, Nura and the Immortal Palace and Fireborn, Twelve and the Frozen Forest.

Chidubem enjoys stories that make him laugh so he headed straight for the 'Humour' section! He picked up David Baddiel's, The Parent Agency and Timmy Failure, We Meet Again by Stephan Pastis.

Louie was quick to pick up Marcus Rashford's, You Can Do It and the very popular, Bad Guys, Episodes 5 and 6.

Sophia is a huge fan of Harry Potter and wanted stories which also feature mythical creates and magical settings. Her first choice was one we don't have in the library, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. Her second pick was Tim Tilley's, Witchstorm.

Like Louie, Adrian was keen to get his hands on a Bad Guys book! He went with episodes 3 and 4. Fantastical Beass and Where to Find Them by J. K. Rowling was his second choice.

Meedea was drawn in by the Tales of Greek Heroes, once she spotted it she just couldn't put it down! Her second book was Malala Yousafzai's, I am Malala - this book is aimed at children 11 and above so will remain in the year 6 classrooms.

As if a wonderful afternoon browsing the shelves in Waterstones wasn't enough, we were also treated to two goody bags full of books, bookmarks and stationery by one of the Waterstones's employees who remembered Broadford from their previous visits.

Finally, no Spinebreakers's trip to Watersones would be complete without a visit to the Waterstones's Café! They enjoyed some well-earned hot chocolates and cakes!

The journey back to Broadford was a quiet one! The children couldn't wait any longer to start reading the books they had chosen. They are going to be reading their books over the break. The books will then be available to borrow once we return to school.
