Festive fun in the Library - week 1

Let the festive fun in the Library begin!

This week in the library saw the start of lots of festive fun as we head towards the Christmas holidays.

Displays
We have a wide selection of Christmas, festive and winter-themed books for all ages in the library, which have been displayed all around for children to borrow. The books have proved very popular already, with lots of children enjoying the stories.

Reading Advent Calendar
This year, we have introduced our Reading Advent Calendar for the month of December. This is displayed in a prominent position in the library for all children to access. Each school day leading up to the Christmas holidays, there is a reading challenge that children can take part in.

Examples so far have included 'Read a book with AND in the title', 'Read a BLUE coloured book' and 'Read a POPULAR AUTHOR book'.

The children are loving taking part, with lots coming to the library every morning to check what that day's challenge is. Not only is this a fun activity for them to enjoy but it also encourages them to try out new authors, genres and books that they may not have chosen otherwise.

Libby the Library Elf
On Monday, Miss Flower and Mrs Jobber were very excited to find a new addition to the library - Libby the Library Elf! She has already been having lots of fun and mischief around the library, to the delight of the children popping in to see her!

What a fun-packed first week!
