Reading Assemblies - Little People, BIG DREAMS and a mysterious world!

Neil Armstrong was the story chosen for the KS1 Reading Assembly this week. Little Neil’s dreams took flight when he rode on his first airplane as a child. Little People, BIG DREAMS is a bestselling biography series for kids that explores the lives of outstanding people.

This book features on the Year 1 105 book list, which you can see here

Miss Hannan read an extract from Leon and the Place Between. Wanting to prove to his brothers and sister that magic really exists, Leon volunteers to be in Abdul Kazam's magic show and gets transported to a mysterious world.

This book features on the Year 3 105 book list, which you can see here

Please email Miss Flower and Mrs Jobber if you are looking for one of the '105 Books to Read', with your child's full name and class.

Havering Libraries - Warm Coats Initiative

Warm Coats

You may already be aware that Havering Libraries are doing a Warm Coats Initiative this Winter.
Each library has a coat rail with adult and children's coats, where people can come in, try on and take home for free, no questions asked.

If anyone has any donations of good quality, warm, clean and undamaged coats, these will be very welcome. Please ring up your local library before dropping off.
Rainham and Harold Hill libraries are particularly short on donations.

Lunchtime library club
Last week in the library, our lunchtime club continued planning their own Comic Books. They have come up with some great ideas.

 New in the Library
Last Wednesday, every class in the school had a lovely visit from two Cheeky Elves! The Elves delivered three festive books for each of the classes to read in the lead up to the Christmas Holidays. Each week, they can unwrap one book to discover a festive tale to share.

Chatterbooks sessions
Last week, the KS1 Chatterbooks groups continued with the story The Leaf Thief. The children enjoyed making their own Leaf Thief.

The KS2 Chatterbooks groups continued enjoying fun Mr Men and Little Miss themed sessions, while listening to Mr Men: The Great British Tour. Everyone had a great time using their imaginations to design their own Mr Men/Little Miss!

Urgent request - Returning borrowed library books
We have had lots of lovely new books added to the library collection over the past couple of months but, unfortunately, many of them have been borrowed by children and never returned to the library. Please can you check at home to see if you have any Broadford library books (stamped inside/Broadford logo attached). If you do, please pass them to your child to return to the library asap, where our Book Monster is waiting to eat them! Thank you.
