Reading Assemblies - Non-Fiction Focus

You may have noticed that we have made a few changes to our '105 Books' Trackers. Previously, the trackers featured mainly fictional stories. We want to broaden our pupils' knowledge of the world around them by adding non-fiction texts that link closely to the topics they study in class.

Mrs Fayefunmi was excited to share 'The Curiosity Box: Plants' with Key Stage One. This book is packed with everything you need to know about plants. With facts on every page and questions to test your knowledge.

Did you know? We use the word 'toadstool' for fungi that are poisonous. We use the word 'mushroom' for fungi that are safe to eat.

This book can be found on the Year 1 Reading Tracker.

Mrs Whiten introduced Key Stage Two to a book bursting with interesting facts and projects to try at home. From explosive eruptions and extreme weather to powering the planet and early life; Project Earth is a must read!

Did you know? Cirrus is the name given to clouds that are wispy (like tufts of hair). They are made up of ice and mean that a change of weather is on its way!

This book can be found on the Year 5 Reading Tracker. If you'd like to buy a copy for yourself, this book is currently available to buy from Amazon for just 99p!

105 Books to Read Before You Leave Broadford

Well done to Vikhyat, Dilan and Vrisha, who have all earned their Bronze Certificates.
