The Story Scrapbook continues its journey around the school!

The Story Scrapbook continues its journey around the school!

Every week, a different class around the school is delivered the scrapbook by two of our Spinebreakers. The class's task is to fill a double-page spread with work based on a book of their choice - this could be their end-of-day story or a class favourite. Classes can fill their pages with drawings, paintings, writing, collages - they just need to be creative and use their imaginations!

Last week, the Story Scrapbook was delivered to Cherry class in Year 3. The class chose Roald Dahl's much loved favourite, The Witches, with the children producing two very creative pages.

The Story Scrapbook was then returned to the library for some photos with Cherry class's two Spinebreakers, Eva and Yehor. They then delivered it to Mulberry class in Year 2 for their turn.

We look forward to seeing what Mulberry class will choose to do!

Book repair
We were sad last week to discover a book that had been returned to the Book Monster in a very bad state. Most of the pages were stuck together, the spine had been broken and the cover was very dirty. However, with some time and effort, the book is back to its best again, on the shelf ready to be borrowed!

Urgent request - Returning borrowed library books
We have had lots of lovely new books added to the library collection over the past couple of months but, unfortunately, many of them have been borrowed by children and never returned to the library. Please can you check at home to see if you have any Broadford library books (stamped inside/Broadford logo attached). If you do, please pass them to your child to return to the library asap, where our Book Monster is waiting to eat them! Thank you.

Reading Assemblies - The Tiger Who Came to Tea and The Bubble Boy!

Miss McClenaghan read The Tiger Who Came to Tea for the KS1 Reading Assembly this week. The doorbell rings just as Sophie and her mummy are sitting down to tea. Who could it possibly be? What they certainly don't expect to see at the door is a big furry, stripy tiger!

This book features on the Year 1 105 book list, which you can see here

Mrs Whiten read an extract from The Bubble Boy for the KS2 Reading Assembly this week. The Bubble Boy is the story of how Joe spends his days, copes with his loneliness and frustrations, and looks - with superhero-style bravery, curiosity and hope - to a future without limits. Expect superheroes, super nurses and a few tears from this truly unique story.

This book features on the Year 6 105 book list, which you can see here

Please email Miss Flower and Mrs Jobber if you are looking for one of the '105 Books to Read', with your child's full name and class.
