Reading Assemblies - This week a tiger came to tea and many of year 1 pupils reached bronze.

This week Miss McClenaghan read the classic picture book "The Tiger Who Came to Tea". The story of Sophie and her extraordinary teatime guest has been loved by millions of children since it was first published more than fifty years ago. The doorbell rings just as Sophie and her mummy are sitting down to tea. Who could it possibly be? What they certainly don't expect to see at the door is a big furry, stripy tiger!
This warm and funny picture book story is perfect for reading aloud, or for small children to read to themselves time and again.
You will find this book on the year 1 105 book tracker here

In KS2 Miss Jennings read "The Bad Begining" which is the first novel of the children's novel series A Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snicket. The novel tells the story of three children, Violet, Klaus, and Sunny Baudelaire, who become orphans following a fire and are sent to live with Count Olaf, who attempts to steal their inheritance.
This title features on the year 6 book list which you can see here
