KS1 Spinebreakers Visit Waterstones!

Our Year 1 and 2 Spinebreakers were the first of three groups of children to visit Waterstones last week. Like Spinebreakers before them, they each chose two new books for our school library. As a reward for their difficult decision making they were treated to hot chocolates and cakes in Costa!

More about their books...

Jessica wanted to find out more about the crayons from 'The Day the Crayons Quit' (a book we have read many times before) so she chose The Day the Crayons Came Home. Her second choice was a copy of Ten Little Pirates.

The Fairytale Hairdresser books have been a great hit this year with our Key Stage One pupils so Nina was keen to pick up another book from the series, The Sugar Plum Fairy, I know a lot of children will be eager to hear this one! Nina chose a book by Julia Donaldson too, Sugarlump and the Unicorn.

Leo also chose a Julia Donaldson book, Charlie Cook's Favourite Book. His second book was 'Oi, Dog!' - the tale of a frog who orders other creatures to sit on certain objects, like bears on stairs, moths on cloths and poodles on noodles!

Kanishka settled on two lovely stories! The first being, 'The Singing Mermaid'. Our last copy of this book got lost along the way so it is great to have this very popular book back! She also chose a Princess Evie's Ponies book, Confetti the Magic Wedding Pony.

A Katie Morag book was Sophie's fist choice, in this story Katie joins ballet but she is always late for her lessons and she hates the idea of wearing a frilly skirt! Copy Cat was Sophie's second choice.

Oliver's two books were, This is Not My Hat and Quick Quack Quentin, Oliver hadn't heard of those stories before so he was keen to see what they were about!

Gordon's Great Escape is another funny book by the creator of Supertato and Barry the Fish with Fingers. Harry also chose The Lion Inside, the story of a mouse who sets off on a journey to find his roar!

James was quick to pick up David Walliam's new book, There is a Snake in my School! His second choice was the next book in the series of Supertato - Vegetables Assemble. With the Evil Pea on the loose again it's down to Supertato to save the day.

Well done to all our KS1 Spinebreakers who picked brilliant books for us to share in the library. We cannot wait to read them all!
