KS1 Spinebreakers Visit Waterstones!

On Monday, our KS1 Spinebreakers had the exciting task of visiting Waterstones in Romford to choose some new books for our library. Waterstones had so many fantastic books on offer, to choose just two each was quite the challenge!

Laicey went for Topsy and Tim Visit London, this was her first choice, she really enjoys watching the show at home and thought having a copy of one of the book in the library would be a great idea. Laicey's second choice was Stickman; we previously borrowed this from Hilldene library and loved it so much that we wanted our own copy! If you haven't read this one before, then you must! Julia Donaldson's tale of the Stickman would be the ideal Christmas story to share at home.

Ruben spent his time carefully searching through the all the great titles Waterstones had on display as he wanted to find the perfect additions to our library. He decided on David Walliams' The First Hippo on the Moon, and The Baby that Roared! We cannot wait to read these stories!

Stories about animals really appeal to Amandeep, so when she found James Bowen and Garry Jenkins' story of Bob to the Rescue she had to have it! Amandeep's second choice was, Lucy and Tom by Shirley Hughes, this is another story about Christmas, full of beautiful illustrations!

As you can tell by the picture, Harry is extremely excited by the books he chose! Adding to our collection of Tom Fletcher and Dougie Poynter books, he picked out The Dinosaur That Pooped The Bed! And Dr Seuss' One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish.

Sticking to the Christmas theme (there was a large display in Waterstones!) Leah chose Father Christmas Needs a Wee! By Nicholas Allan and Max and the won't go to Bed Show - excellent choices Leah, we are looking forward to reading these ones!

Tyler went for two classics - Funnybones by Janet and Allan Ahlberg and Hairy McClary's Hat Tricks, Hairy McClary is very popular with our Nursery and Reception children so I am sure they will be excited to hear this latest tale!

Naleli chose Superhero Dad, because it reminded her of her own Dad, who she says is her hero! She also picked out Julia Donaldson's, The Singing Mermaid, we have read this before, and is loved by both girls and boys.

Lastly, Ethan thought Spider Sandwiches sounded like the book he would love to read - the little monster in this story eats and drinks some horrid things, like, slug milkshake, fried hairy bat's ears and lice! Yuck! Ethan's second book was The Pirate-Crunchers.

For all their hard work they were treated to hot chocolates, marshmallows and mini muffins in Costa!
