World Book Day and Competition Winners!

HAPPY WORLD BOOK DAY!

To celebrate World Book Day, The Biggest Book Show On Earth will be going live, online from 11am. The show features nine authors, including, Cathy Cassidy, Lauren Child and Anthony Horowitz, who will be sharing their story-writing skills with you. You can catch up online by clicking here. Enjoy!

Tonight a special episode of Blue Peter will announce the winners of their annual book awards. Over the past months they have been searching for the Best Story and Best Book with Facts. They created a shortlist of six books, which have been passed on to more than 200 children. Tune in later to find out what the winning books are.

Tomorrow we will be holding a book sale. There are lots of books to choose from, priced at 10p to 50p. The books will be on sale all day in the library and outside Pine and Mulberry at the end of the day. Money raised will go on new books.

Design a Bookmark Competition Winners

As promised today is the day that the winners of the Design a Bookmark Competition are announced. I was very impressed with the effort that went into each and every one and in total received 121 bookmarks. As you can imagine choosing the winners was very difficult, so, instead of
having just four, we have increased it to eight! The winners will be invited to attend Waterstones in Romford, where they will receive the prize of a book.

And the winners are...

Nursery and Reception:
Charlie Illott and Sky Griffiths

Years 1 and 2:
Conor Borrell and Sienna Nickson

Years 3 and 4:
Terrika Wright and Luis Bone

Years 5 and 6:
Beth King and David Sangojinmi

Over the next week I will begin to use their designs and recreate them on the computer, they will then be used as Reading Award prizes when children have read 25 books, or 2,500 pages. Congratulations to all our winners and a HUGE thank you to all that entered. Don't forget all the bookmarks will be sent off to the World Book Day judges wuth the chance of winning more prizes, so, good luck!
