The Summer Reading Challenges return!

   The Summer Reading Challenges return!

National Summer Reading Challenge

Hopefully, you have had the chance to sign up to the National Summer Reading Challenge at your local library. This year's theme is Read to the Beat!

If you complete the challenge, let Miss Flower know via the school library Instagram or email:

School Summer Reading Challenge

Later this week, children will receive a copy of our Broadford school library Summer Reading Challenge, which is a great, fun way to encourage and continue enjoying reading over the summer holidays.

Make sure you hand your completed challenge to Miss Flower in the school library when you return to school by Friday 4th September for a special certificate and the chance to win a prize!

Get Caught Reading!

Like previous years, we would love to see you reading during the summer break, whether it be at home or far away. Take part by sending one photo (with your full name and new class) of yourself caught reading somewhere exciting over the summer to:

Instagram: @broadfordlibrary  Email: library@broadford-havering.sch.uk

You can view your photo on our Library Instagram Page throughout the summer holidays, so please head over there to give us a follow.

We will choose one winner and one runner-up from each Key Stage. These lucky ones will be rewarded with a prize, and everyone will receive a special certificate for taking part. All entries need to be in by Friday 4th September 2026. Winners will be announced the following week.

Why have a reading competition?

At Broadford Primary School, we believe in developing a culture where children are intrinsically motivated to read for pleasure. We believe in encouraging them to read both inside and beyond school and that the most effective way to promote reading is to work in partnership with parents and families.
