Today, the Swashbuckle reading challenge will begin for children in year 1. Over the next five weeks, the pupils (in their groups), will visit the library and listen to one of the Swashbuckle stories created especially for the National Literacy Trust. Once they have heard the story they will receive an activity sheet that they may complete at home. For each story they hear and activity they complete they will receive a sticker. Once they have heard five stories and completed five activities they will receive a Swashbuckle certificate and be entered into a national prize draw where they will be in with a chance of winning one of the following prizes;
