The Book Fair Is Coming!
Please come and visit the Book Fair in the New Hall (Charlton). We will be there after school from 3:15pm this week from TODAY (Tuesday 6th May) until Friday 9th May. Lots of lovely books to buy with an exciting 3 for 2 offer (cheapest book free). We look forward to seeing you there!
Raising Readers at Home
We have a new, regular library blog series all about helping parents and carers to grow, encourage and nurture children's love of reading at home. This series will offer tips, advice and ideas as well as simple steps you can take at home for your child to make reading fun and enjoyable. You can read our first feature with Top Tips for Reading at Home with your Child here
Lunchtime library club
Last Monday, our lunchtime library club was full of children enjoying lots of fun Minecraft-themed activities, including wordsearches, I-Spy and make your own bookmarks.
Chatterbooks sessions
Last week, the KS1 Chatterbooks groups listened to the story The Very Hungry Caterpillar! All of the groups discussed what delicious food they think their own Caterpillar would eat.
New KS2 Chatterbooks groups last week enjoyed shared reads of the fun book There's A Snake In My School! by David Walliams. All of the groups managed to get 10/10 in the questions at the end - super work everyone!
Spinebreakers
Our Year 2 Spinebreakers recently had an enjoyable trip to Harold Hill library, where they read stories and completed book reviews, took part in some shared reading and learnt how to use the library equipment to borrow and return books. Everyone had a great time!
Well done to Aarav who have earned his Gold Certificate for reading all 15 books!
Well done to all!
You can find the books from the 105 Books list for your child's year group here
Earn your Blue Peter Reading Badge! See how you can take part here or pick up an entry form from the library.
Urgent request - Returning borrowed library books
We have had lots of lovely new books added to the library collection over the past couple of months but, unfortunately, many of them have been borrowed by children and never returned to the library. Please can you check at home to see if you have any Broadford library books (stamped inside/Broadford logo attached). If you do, please pass them to your child to return to the library asap, where our Book Monster is waiting to eat them! Thank you.
